      • Customers can manage account and candidate notifications in the Notifications tab of the Account page.
      • When customers order a background check, the Checkr Dashboard offers popular add-ons to customize the check.

      • When hiring outside the United States, customers can now choose how many years of address history to gather from candidates.

    2023-08-08

    Enhancement

    • Checkr Dashboard:
      • In some jurisdictions, regulations require that healthcare providers search certain data sources during a background check. The order summary PDF, available from the Checkr Dashboard, shows the data sources checked during a state search. 2023-07-25

    Enhancements

    • Checkr Dashboard:

Checkr Assess: Checkr Assess brings thoughtful automation to the adjudication process so you can focus on reports that need your attention. Using powerful and flexible adjudication rules, Assess offers a preliminary assessment of whether a candidate does or does not qualify for a given role based on your own adjudication criteria. With better consistency and lower cost-to-hire, you can scale faster with less risk.

Use Assess to define your pre-adjudication eligibility criteria of Eligible, Review, or Escalated. Assess will then match your criteria against any state or county criminal records in a report and assign an eligibility outcome to each record in the report.

For more information, see Assess in the Checkr Help Center.

Please work with your Checkr Customer Success Manager to enable Assess for your account.

Checkr API: Added a new call to the Checkr API: `GET /candidates/{candidate_id}/ssn`. Use this call to retrieve a candidate's encrypted SSN. Please work with your Checkr Customer Success Manager to enable this feature for your account. For more information, see SSN in the Checkr APIs.

    Enhancements

Candidate Experience: Emails will now be sent to candidates with completed reports when a record is included that is eligible for expungement. Checkr Dashboard: The dashboard will now display "Candidate uploaded documents" for any Health Check for which the candidate uploaded documentation proving their result, rather than completing the requested test.

Checkr Dashboard: Updated the Dashboard's Logs pages. API Logs may now be searched by Resource ID. Webhook Logs may be searched by Report ID. Both pages also now include a "Share this" option, which provides a shareable link to the displayed Logs.

    New Features

Candidate Experience: Improved our validation process for candidate email addresses. Candidates will now receive error messages that their email domain name is not registered  (for example, checkr@gmail.con), or that their domain is not configured to accept email (for example, checkr@reliancetc.com).

Checkr API: Exposed the new `hierarchy` endpoint in the Checkr API documentation. For more information, see the Account Hierarchy Management User Guides in the Checkr Help Center, and Hierarchy (Enabled by request) in the Checkr API documentation. Work with your Checkr Customer Success Manager to enable Account Management for your account.

Checkr API: Checkr now supports SMS invitations and invitation reminders for candidates to participate in their background check. This feature is available only when generating invitations using the Checkr API, and is not available through the Checkr Dashboard. Work with your Checkr Customer Success Manager to enable SMS notifications for your account.

Checkr API: Candidate Stories are now available from the Checkr APIs. For more information, see Candidate Stories.

Checkr Dashboard: The Candidates page will now include the option to filter by Report completion date. Timestamps will appear in the Account's local time.

    New Feature

Candidate Stories: Checkr now provides candidates the opportunity to submit more information about their past, their record, or any other information they wish to offer.

If an account has Candidate Stories enabled, candidates with Consider reports will see a "Share your story" button in the Candidate Portal. The information they share will then be included in their Report in both the Checkr Dashboard and the Candidate Portal, and may be accessed through the new `candidate-stories` resource in the Checkr APIs. For more information, please see Candidate Stories: Improving understanding of the past and present in the Checkr Help Center, and Candidate Stories in the Checkr API documentation.

    Enhancement

Checkr Dashboard: Added a Report Log pane to the Report page, which allows users to view a list and timestamp of events in the Report’s lifecycle. Product messaging in response to COVID-19 closures

Checkr has added both customer and candidate messaging to several areas of the platform, to inform our users of possible delays in our Reports due to facility closures or limited accessibility.

Checkr Dashboard: Added an overlay window that informs all users of possible delays in Report processing due to county court closures, and links to https://data.checkrstatus.com/#, which is updated daily and lists known county court closures.

Checkr Dashboard and Candidate Portal: Added messaging to the ETA for County Searches which displays “Unavailable”, rather than providing an ETA when the states or counties to be searched are closed or otherwise inaccessible.

Checkr-Hosted Apply Flow: Added messaging to Health Check emails to candidates, asking them to please call ahead to confirm that their selected clinic will be available for their test, before they arrive.

    New Feature

Screenings: Checkr has launched a page which provides up to date information on County Courthouse closures and delays. Go to https://data.checkrstatus.com/# to subscribe to these notifications, which will be updated daily with any new information Checkr has acquired.

    Enhancements

Candidate Experience: Suspended screenings will no longer be listed on candidate Report PDFs or in the Candidate Portal, regardless of the reason they were suspended. Report status (Pending, Clear, or Consider) will be based only on those screenings that are able to complete.

Screenings: Health Check Report PDFs will now include chain of custody forms with result certificates.

Checkr Dashboard: We've updated the color scheme of our Dashboard to reflect our new corporate branding.

Checkr Help Center: We’ve rewritten the Getting Started Guides to be more up-to-date, tasked based, and easy to follow. We’ve also added a new page on setting up your account with Checkr, including getting credentialed. No URLs have been harmed in the making of these new pages.

Checkr Dashboard: Updated the CSV export functionality to pre-populate the CSV export date fields with any dates selected in the Candidates page.

     New Feature

Checkr API: Added an Account resource to the Checkr APIs. This endpoint allows Checkr customers to retrieve their account information, and Checkr Partners to retrieve Account details on behalf of their customers. For more information, see the Account resource in the Checkr API documentation.

    Enhancements

Checkr API: Added the `report_id` key to Invitation webhooks and API endpoints that respond with invitations. For more information, see the 200 response for Create Invitation.

Checkr Dashboard: Added a "Name" field to the credit card payment method screen, allowing customers to enter a name for their credit card information which differs from their Checkr login name.

    Bug Fix

Compliance: Updated the date listed on post Adverse Action PDFs to more accurately reflect the date the email was sent, rather than the date the Post Adverse Action was generated.

    01/06/2020

    New Features

Checkr API: Added three new webhook events, which notify customers when changes have been made to their existing Packages. Using these webhooks allows you to maintain a cached Package list, and retrieve new Packages only when there's been a change. New webhook events are: `package.created`, `package.updated`, and `package.deleted`.

For more information, see Package Events in the Checkr API documentation.

Compliance: Checkr now offers both candidates and customers the means to delete Candidate Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from the Checkr database, upon Candidate request.

Screenings: Checkr now allows customers to create Rules based on candidate's driving privilege. This allows customers to filter on whether a candidate's license reflects a passenger vehicle or a motorcycle endorsement. Work with your Checkr Customer Success partner to enable these rules, if desired.

Sendr: Checkr has released Sendr, an encrypted file transfer service that allows Checkr and our customers to safely and securely share documents containing sensitive data. For more information, please see Sendr: Checkr's Secure Document Exchange tool in the Checkr Help Center

    Enhancements

Checkr Dashboard: Updated the description of MVR rules to be more specific to the listed rules. The description has been changed from "Driver must have acceptable driving privileges" to "Candidate must currently be privileged to drive a passenger vehicle or motorcycle" or "Candidate must currently be privileged to drive a passenger vehicle" as appropriate.

These will be displayed as two separate categories on both the Checkr Dashboard and all generated Reports. By default, Suspensions will not trigger a “Consider” status. • Checkr Dashboard: Dispute events added to the adverse action timeline to provide greater transparency into a report's history.
    • Checkr Health: Clicking "Change location" in a health screening appointment will allow a new screening location to be selected. The text of the email will read:

If you're a system-impacted individual and want to learn more about tools and resources, Checkr has created a guide for navigating legal services in San Francisco, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties. Please visit our Bounce Back resource page.

Wondering why we sent this to you? Because everyone deserves a fair chance at setting their record straight.

    Enhancements

    • Bullhorn: Checkr's Manual Order form in the Checkr Bullhorn Integration now supports packages that contain criminal + MVR screenings. When ordering a criminal + MVR package, the Bullhorn user must enter the candidate’s driver’s license number and driver’s license state.
    • Checkr Dashboard: Candidates enrolled in Continuous Check will now be automatically unenrolled upon completion of an Adverse Action process.
    • Continuous Check: Geos for Continuous Check reports will now be set to the Geo set on the candidate's most recent report, rather than to all Geos available for the candidate.

    • Updates have been made to the User Interface, for greater clarity in the ordering process.
    • Order forms presented to Bullhorn users will now display all required fields, and prefill candidate information pre-populated in Bullhorn.
    • Cancelling orders will now reset the Geo, Program, and Package selections to their defaults.
    • Bullhorn Admins may now select their integration’s background check order type: Manual, or Invitation.
    • First name, Last name, and email address are now required fields when ordering background checks.
    • Added an Authenticate button to the Admin’s integration panel, which allows users to test their integration’s user/key pair authentication.

For more information, see Bullhorn / Checkr Integration Guide in the Checkr Help Center.

    Enhancements

    • Candidate Experience: Updated the Checkr-hosted flow to include a required year awarded field when candidates select GED as their diploma type.
    • Candidate Experience: Added an updated video to the end of the Checkr-hosted flow, which explains to candidates what they should expect next in their background check process. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GusAPxwNaU
    • Candidate Experience: Updated the Applicant Portal to show expiration dates for Drug Screening appointments, as set by the clients requesting the Screening. Candidates logging into the Applicant Portal will now have more accurate information on how long they have to schedule their appointments.
    • Candidate Experience: Improved the mobile user experience. Fixed a bug which prevented candidates from using their mobile devices to photograph and upload requested documents. Improved the descriptive text and reduced the number of steps required for these candidates to resolve exceptions.
    • Checkr Dashboard: Added pagination to the Adjudication Matrix page, to allow users with more than 25 Programs to click through multiple pages to access and edit them.
    • Checkr Dashboard: Packages that include drug or health screenings must be ordered individually to allow candidates to schedule their tests as part of the Checkr-hosted flow. These reports cannot be reordered using the Order New Report dropdown menu.
    • Checkr Dashboard: Updated the text for the Export to CSV button to more accurately reflect that the download will be a list of reports for the selected date range.

    Bug Fixes

    • Checkr Dashboard: Fixed a bug which caused a 500 error to appear when sorting the Adverse Actions table by the “Post-notice sent on” column. This data will now sort by this column, as expected.
    • Checkr Dashboard: Fixed a bug which caused the Checkr Dashboard to issue an error when a Drug Screening only Adverse Action was initiated.

    New Features

    • Continuous Check: A monthly subscription listening tool that checks for new and/or updated information on your enrolled candidates. The listening tool generates pointers for Checkr to conduct further research and deliver report updates throughout your engagement with candidates. Continuous Check helps minimize risk across your platform and brand by providing you with a more accurate and timely representation of your employee or contractor base.
    • Checkr Canada: Checkr Canada allows you to run reports for Canadian candidates. A full set of documentation for the Checkr Canada integration has been released. For more information, see: Checkr Canada: Getting Started, Checkr Canada: Reviewing Reports, Checkr Canada: Candidate Experience,  and Checkr Canada: FAQ in the Checkr Help Center.

    Enhancements

    • API: Added a name_on_diploma parameter to the School resource. Changed year_awarded to be required if the candidate submits a high school or GED diploma.
    • Bullhorn: Updated copy of the "I certify" language when ordering a manual report.
    • Bullhorn: Checkr will no longer create a Candidate when the Checkr tab is clicked. Checkr will now create a Candidate only when Order report or Send invitation is clicked.
    • Bullhorn: Changed copy and button label on the "Send Invitation" page. This page is displayed for all Packages for Invitation Flow customers, and for Packages requiring more than a criminal background check for Manual Flow customers.
    • Candidate Experience: Updated the Employment and Education Verification candidate flows to provide a better autofill experience for candidates entering company names.
    • Candidate Experience: When selecting “self-employed” in an education verification flow, candidates will now immediately be given the option to upload supporting documentation, rather than waiting for the email link to do so.
    • Candidate Experience: When entering information for an education verification, the institution name field will now automatically change to reflect the education level entered in the field above. If a candidate selects High School or GED they will be asked to enter their High school name. If they select Associates or Bachelors or Masters or other higher diploma, they will be asked to enter their College or University name.
    • Candidate Experience: Added a button to the apply flow for employment verifications which allows candidates to upload supporting documentation for each employment history entered, rather than waiting for an exception to be issued which requires them to do the same.
    • Checkr Dashboard: Candidates who select High School as their highest level of education will now be asked to also submit their Name on Diploma, and Year Awarded, to allow Checkr to better search existing databases for verification of their education. Checkr will no longer offer a “current student” checkbox, as this option was rarely selected.
    • Checkr Dashboard: Candidates enrolled in Continuous Check will now be automatically unenrolled upon completion of an Adverse Action Process.
    • Continuous Check: Geos for Continuous Check reports will now be set to the Geo set on the candidate's most recent report.

    Bug Fixes

    • API: The POST /v1/candidates call will no longer issue a 500 error when the input candidate name and email address appear to match. Checkr will now validate the email and last name fields, and return a meaningful error message if they are too similar. New error message: "400: Last Name cannot be similar to email."
    • Bullhorn: Fixed a bug in the Bullhorn integration which prevented options from resetting when a background check was canceled. Clicking Cancel to back out of ordering a report will now deselect any selected Programs, Geos, or Packages, as expected.
    • Candidate Experience: Updated the text on the Applicant Portal's Insufficient Licensing History resolution page to no longer state that Checkr will accept documents from US territories. This page now correctly states that "Checkr cannot accept documents from US territories, including Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands" for both English and Spanish language applicants.
    • Checkr Dashboard: Fixed a bug which inaccurately generated a 500 error message when Pre Adverse Action was clicked in the Dashboard. Clicking the button created the Adverse Action, as expected, but issued a misleading error message. Clicking Pre Adverse Action in the dashboard will now issue a “400: Waiting for report PDF.”
    • Partner Integrations: Fixed a bug in the authentication flow for partner integrations which caused validations to fail. Using your browser to autocomplete the required fields in the sign-up process will now validate accurately, as expected.

    • Candidate Experience The Candidate apply flow has been updated to no longer display the “salary” field if the candidate’s current location OR the account’s default compliance state and city are in a Ban the Box location. This change will better help you remain compliant.
