Question
I have a candidate who has been trying to fill out a background check, but it keeps ending up with "report suspended." We've sent it twice now and the candidate has not received any emails.
Answer
Confirm your candidate's email address to determine if the invitation was sent to the wrong email address, then follow the steps outlined below:
The invitation was sent to the wrong email address
If an invitation has been sent to the wrong email address, follow steps to send a new invitation to the correct email address:
- Navigate to the Candidates tab
- Select the Invite Candidates button
- Choose a Package (required) and Geo or Program (if applicable)
- Enter your candidate’s email address and click Send Invitations
The invitation sent to the correct email address
If the candidate's email address is accurate, check to see if the email address has been suppressed. A report may move into a Suspended status if the candidate’s email address has been suppressed and they are not receiving messages to take action on their background check.
Email addresses may be suppressed for one of three reasons:
- An email sent to that address bounced
- The candidate has tagged the email from Checkr as Spam
- The candidate has clicked “unsubscribe” from an email they received
To determine if the email address has been suppressed:
- Open the report within the Checkr dashboard
- Review the email address field
- If a ⚠ warning indicator appears to the right of the email address, the candidate’s email address has been suppressed
- Click on the ⚠ warning indicator to show more information
- Click on the Remove button to override suppression of the candidates email and allow future messages to be sent to this email address

Osmany,
Thanks for leaving article feedback. It sounds as though you are a Checkr Candidate looking for the status of your background check. I'm sharing an article that will assist in logging into the Candidate Portal to check the status of your report: I can't log into the candidate portal.
If you have further trouble, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Candidate Support team: Contacting Checkr Candidate Support
I think this may be happening to be. Both Hyre and Uber have requested reports. Hyre said I was rejected and sometimes they say I need to Submit again. Depending on who I talk to. I never received any emails in regards to why I was supposedly rejected and there is no record of the report in the canidate portal. I have tried every email I can think of that I ever used. I have been trying to apply for over six months. Now with Uber the same thing is happening my report is pending according to them—it’s been two weeks. However there is a report e from Lyft back in 2020. I have tried contacting customer service but am unable to get anyone on the line and when I email they just send me a link to the canidate portal each time. Please help! I need to work! A similar thing happened with Lyft when I first applied. After a month I went into their service center and they were able to correct the problem somehow after about twenty minutes of communicating with various people. I passed. know there is something wrong here. Please help me to correct it. I’m pretty desperate and am not sure what else to do. Next step is to contact a lawyer but I really don’t want to do that. Thank you.
Jared,
Sorry to hear you're having trouble. The first thing that is going to help you get on your way is logging into the Candidate Portal to check the status of your background check. However, it sounds like you're having trouble accessing it to view those results. The following article should help: I can't log into the candidate portal.
Additionally, if you believe the organization that ran the background check may have your email suppressed or entered incorrectly, as described in the above article, I encourage you to reach out to them directly to remedy this.
Our Candidate Help Center's Report Status section also has other articles that may assist you further. If you can't find the answer you're looking for there, I also encourage you to reach out to the Candidate Experience team once more: Contacting Checkr Candidate Support.
I have almost 4 months waiting on my pending background check for uber and lyft.

Cindy,
Thanks for leaving article feedback. It sounds as though you are a Checkr candidate whose background check suspended. We are not able to process requests for new background check reports directly from candidates. If you would like a new background check, please reach out to the company you applied with and ask them to order a report.
If an existing background check report includes information that you believe is inaccurate, please log into our Candidate Portal and "Report an Error" at the bottom of the page. You can upload any supporting documents as well. Please use the email address and personal information that you used on your initial application to log in.
